Integrated Sustainability Reporting and Monitoring Systems@UiTM

Universiti Teknologi MARA has established a coordinated digital ecosystem to strengthen sustainability governance, reporting, and performance monitoring across its campuses. Anchored by the UiTM Green Centre, this ecosystem integrates reporting, environmental asset management, and energy monitoring through three key systems: IS-CARE, Tree-CAMUS, and EMIT.

The Integrated System of Campus Report (IS-CARE) functions as UiTM’s official sustainability reporting platform. Developed in 2022 and aligned with the Green Centre’s institutional mandate established in 2018, IS-CARE serves as a unified portal for collecting and consolidating sustainability initiatives, activities, and performance indicators from all UiTM campuses and branch locations. Through annual E-Report submissions, faculties and units document green campus efforts in a standardised and auditable format. The system is accessible exclusively to UiTM staff via the UGC webpage, operates as a Progressive Web App for desktop and mobile use, and applies secure authentication through institutional credentials. IS-CARE plays a central role in ensuring consistency, accountability, and comparability in UiTM’s sustainability reporting.

Complementing this reporting function, Tree-CAMUS (Tree-Campus Mapping UiTM System) provides a dedicated environmental asset management platform. As the first comprehensive tree inventory system developed for UiTM Shah Alam, Tree-CAMUS records and manages detailed data on campus trees, including species, physical measurements, location, and photographic documentation. Tree locations are visualised through interactive mapping, enabling systematic monitoring of green assets and supporting biodiversity planning and landscape management. The system is fully developed and operational, strengthening evidence-based environmental stewardship at campus level.

The UiTM Energy Management Initiative Tool (EMIT) extends this digital ecosystem into operational sustainability and carbon management. EMIT is a centralised platform designed to monitor and analyse electricity consumption across faculties, administrative buildings, and selected facilities. By compiling energy data in a structured format, the tool enables benchmarking, performance comparison, and early detection of inefficiencies. EMIT supports data-driven decision-making for energy optimisation, evaluation of intervention outcomes, and policy formulation related to energy efficiency and carbon reduction.

Collectively, IS-CARE, Tree-CAMUS, and EMIT form an integrated sustainability information infrastructure for UiTM. Together, they enhance transparency, strengthen institutional governance, and support SDG-aligned reporting, low-carbon initiatives, and continuous improvement in environmental performance. This integrated approach positions UiTM to manage sustainability not as isolated initiatives, but as a coordinated, measurable, and strategically guided institutional commitment.
